Why Wall Art Is Important If You Have ADHD

This post is for my fellow ADHD folks! If you have ADHD you are probably familiar with the notion and experience of object permanence. Object permanence, put simply, is the ability to understand that an object continues to exist, even though it can no longer be seen, heard or touched. This is something that most ADHD folks experience issues with regularly! You know the phrase “out of sight, out of mind?” That’s literally what we deal with on a regular basis. If we don’t see it, especially regularly, then it really is easy to forget it exists.

ADHD symptoms include difficulty in remembering that objects, tasks, or items exist, when the person with ADHD cannot see, hear, or touch them. People with ADHD often forget about objects or tasks, especially if those objects or tasks are not right in front of them, and are easily distracted by present thoughts, people, items or tasks.

This is why wall art is so important for folks with ADHD!! We literally can forget about our photos, and the feelings and experiences tied with them, when we don’t see them every day! Another bonus? Looking at photos of yourself, or people you love, that bring you back to feelings of bravery, love, connection, and celebration gives your brain a hit of dopamine- what every ADHD brain is seeking out!

So get those photos up on your wall! Don’t let them sit around on a hard drive where you’ll forget all about them- you deserve to continue enjoying your photos every. single. day.
